JOVEM INGLESA GRÁVIDA ASSASSINADA POR EX-NAMORADO MUÇULMANO
No Reino Unido, uma jovem branca foi repetidamente esfaqueada e o seu corpo atirado ao canal depois de ela ter afrontado a família do pai do seu filho, muçulmana.
Laura Wilson, de dezassete anos, foi engravidada pelo ex-namorado, Ishaq Hussain, de vinte e dois anos, o qual recusou reconhecer a paternidade da criança, conduzindo assim a uma situação de conflito. Hussain e um amigo seu, que também tinha namorado a jovem Laura, resolveram matá-la. Ao planearem o crime, trocaram mensagens numa linguagem usada no filme de culto britânico «Quatro Leões», sobre terroristas muçulmanos e engendraram assim a «missão de matar Laura Wilson». Uma das mensagens enviadas a Hussain pelo seu amigo dizia: «Vou mandar aquela cabra infiel directamente para o inferno.»

Saliento que a irmã de Laura, Sarah, considerava Hussain «como seu irmão» no bairro de misturada étnica no qual viviam...
Realmente trágico, o desfecho. Mas o começo já era mau - uma jovem branca a ter um filho de um alógeno muçulmano. Vá lá que ao menos a criança não nasceu...

OIC Fatwa on Domestic Violence and the Rights of Women in Islam
In April 2009, the Islamic Fiqh Academy made a ruling entitled ‘Domestic Violence’. This is a highly significant document which reflects a high-level consensus of leading Muslim scholars in the world today. It was clearly issued in the context of criticisms of Islam and Muslim societies for the treatment of women.
The Islamic Fiqh Academy (IFA) was established by the Organization for the Islamic Conference in 1981. It is comprised of 43 scholars, who are elite Islamic jurists of their respective nations. Many are chief justices or grand muftis of their nations. IFA's resolutions are in Arabic, and they can be found on their website at http://www.fiqhacademy.org.sa/.
IFA's aims are:
to unite the Ummah (the global Muslim community, conceived of as a single nation, by conforming conduct to the norms of Islam at all levels (from individual to international);
to apply Islam to contemporary problems;
and to create a body of Islamic jurisprudence to meet the needs of modern life.
In IFA's deliberations, issues are subjected to extensive research, with prior distribution of papers, extensive consultation and discussion, before rulings are agreed upon and issued. These rulings are very distilled. The process “allows for a Muslim to see the final opinion without having to use up time and effort considering the research consultations that may extend to hundreds of pages”.
Undoubtedly IFA speaks for the Islamic mainstream. In the words of Dr Abdul-Salam Al-Abbadi, Secretary General of IFA, it is intended to function as the ‘supreme juristic reference for the Muslim world’. Furthermore, IFA's rulings have the backing of the OIC, which is one of the most significant groupings of states in the world today.
IFA's fatwa or ruling on domestic violence warrants detailed study. It is not possible to do justice to it in this blog post. A translation into English is given below. A few key features are:
This fatwa represents the unapologetic assertion of the absolute authority of the sharia over all understandings of human rights as they apply to women and the family, specifically including international human rights conventions and covenants. Islamic states are instructed to ignore every article of any convention or covenant which is inconsistent with the sharia.
The fatwa upholds the right of a husband to beat his wife: wife-beating is specifically excluded from its definition of 'domestic violence', as long as the beating conforms to sharia requirements. The memorable phrase 'non-violent beating' is coined to express this perspective. Note also the implied threat which warns against 'slander' in the context of resolving marital disputes (implying that a woman must not criticize her husband).
Here are some hadiths of Muhammad on wife-beating from Sunan Abu Dawud:
• Muhammad: 'When one of you inflicts a beating, he should avoid beating the face.'
• Muhammad: "A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife." – this principle means that a man cannot required to answer to a sharia court for beating his wife.
• Muhammad: "Do not beat your wife as you beat your slave-girl."
• Muhammad: "They are not the best among you." – said of women who complained to Muhammad when he gave permission for their husbands to beat them.
This fatwa also upholds the right of a husband to rape his wife, for it is not 'domestic violence' for a man to insist upon his conjugal rights (section 2(F)).

When US soldier Terry Brooks was sent to join military guards at the infamous Guantanamo prison that houses Moslem militants from Taliban and Al-Qaeda, he had not thought he would embrace the religion of those prisoners. After a few chats with a Moroccan inmate, he converted to Islam in 2003.
Brooks was caught by local reporters this week praying in the western Saudi town of Madina before heading for nearby Makkah to perform his first pilgrimage (Umra), which he said had been his dream over the past years.The Saudi Arabic language daily Okaz said it waited for Brooks to finish his prayers and talked to him about his conversion to Islam.
He credited “prisoner number 590” named Ahmed Al Rashdi of Morocco for his “landmark” decision. After converting, he was expelled from the army.
Brooks told the paper he was sent to Guantanamo long before 2003 and later started to mingle with some prisoners there.“I still remember that great moment….the time was around 12:49 am in December 2003 when I embraced Islam…at that night, I took this landmark decision after numerous chat sessions with Al Rashdi,” he said.
“It was a memorable moment in my life…….many prisoners sat around me when I converted and decided to call me Mustafa as their new friend…later I added the name Abdullah so I am now called Mustafa Abdullah.”
Brooks said he had been delighted when the US army decided to send him to Guantanamo as it was an adventure for him since had not seen a prison before.
“When I arrived there, it was a big shock for me… even before I entered the prison buildings, I could see that it was horrible and could suit only cactus and poisonous reptiles….I then asked myself ‘are those people behind the bars really so dangerous that they are worth these costly security measures.”
Brooks said he started to be interested in Islam after his talks to Al Rashdi and other prisoners about Islam, Palestine, Afghanistan and the Middle East.
“I used to sit just outside their cells at night listening to them…by time, a sort of mutual respect developed between us …I had never believed in God before I went to Guantanamo.…now that I embraced Islam, I can feel the sweetness of religion…Islam is a pure religion and the ultimate right.”
Brooks said he had first concealed his decision to convert to Islam from other US guards at Guantanamo, adding that when the officer learned about it, he and the other soldiers began to treat him cruelly and accused him of betraying America. Around two years before the end of his contract, he was fired from the army.
“I am now working on a book about my experience to embrace Islam.…I have just quit my job in the US to devote my time to helping the prisoners in Guantanamo..…what is happening in that prison is really inhuman and violates the minimum principles of human rights,” he said.
